Since establishment in 1861 The Haydock Band has collected a vast amount of brass band music. This library has been augmented by libraries from other defunct bands , most notably the Calendars Cables Band , who were one of the countries premier bands particularly relevant on early recordings of brass music.
The library, which has vast significance as a historical archive and not just as a major collection of brass music, now amounts to over 5000 pieces of music dating back to Dinorah in 1873. This is an original set of the Belle Vue test piece. We believe that we are one of a very few bands to hold this collection of test pieces from Belle Vue if not the only one, which would make our collection unique - no doubt some one will let us know if thats not the case!
It is the intention of the band committee to make this collection more accessible to other bands around the country and in the future to bands abroad.
If you have any particular requirement for especially older music please e-mail the band and we will see how we can best help.
