EEb Bass - Mark Quinn

Mark is the long suffering band manager!  He has been playing in brass bands since he was eleven (far too many years to mention!) and was a founder member of St. Helens Music Centre Brass Band (now St. Helens Youth Band).

He has been with Haydock Band for twenty years in September 2007 and been the Band Manager for the past twelve years.

Mark plays the EEb tuba but has been known to stray onto BBb for the odd contest or two!

Mark’s highlight in his banding career must be taking Haydock Band from the depths of the fourth section up to the Championship section over a period of ten years, culminating in the bands qualification to the National Finals at the Royal Albert hall in October 2003.

Mark is a European Sales Manager for a global finance company.

EEb Bass - Richard Behrend

Richard has been with the Haydock Band for approximately five years.  He is not from a traditional brass band background, coming to it rather later in life.  In addition to his commitment with the band, Richard also plays bass trombone and tuba in amateur orchestras and is therefore kept very busy.

When not playing large brass instruments Richard is kept busy trying to sell them.  He owns and runs a music shop in Liverpool specialising in brass and woodwind instruments, all enquiries welcome!  Just phone 0151 733 2213 or call in at 8 Greenbank Road (off Smithdown Road) Liverpool, L18 1HN.

Richard's main non-musical hobby at the moment is mountain biking.  Given a free weekend he will be off to the Lake District huffing and puffing up steep hills, and hanging on (most of the time) whilst charging over rocky tracks on the way down.  His other two wheel friend is a Yamaha motor bike, which can sometimes be seen loaded up with a sovereign tuba.

His personal life has changed rather drastically in the last twelve months, and there is a rumour going round that he is going to be a Dad before the end of October.  Whatever next?
